Oluwaseun BabatundeNice traditional open food market.
-
M
Morewa BamgboseIt a fairly big market, where you can find/buy anything from foodstuffs to household equipments. It is however known mainly for food. Bodija market is situated on the road side and operates a morning and night trading system. My advice is that you not only go with a list of what you want to get but go in casual and comfortable wear (during the raining season it gets really swampy) For your one stop fresh food location, check it out.

Wake-upCALL AFRICAYour one stop market for food stuff of all types. It is a national market with people coming from all over Nigeria to buy and sell food items. The market is sectioned by items, rice, beans, onions etc. There is now 2 modern part of the market that are better laid out. The Akala Complex and the Ultramodern Arisekola market. They both have wider range of items than the regular bodija market with stuff like wines, mattress, plastic etc which where not originally part of the market plan. The market extends from boundaries of Agbowo express on the east to Agbowo itself on the north to Kongi on the south and Samonda on the west

The market is divided into sections, depending on the foodstuffs one wants to purchase. Accessible by foot and other means of transportation. Essentially good to buy foodstuffs in bulk.

Max World Digital HubBodija Market is a popular open-air market located in Bodija, a district in Ibadan North local government of Oyo State, South Western Nigeria. As evident from its name, it was originally a fighting arena and it developed to be a reputable hub for the sales and distribution of cattle and livestock in Oyo State, the market is populated by Hausa and Yoruba traders and has thus led to several inter-ethnic conflict in recent years. The market was established in October 1987. Its establishment came as a result of growth and overcrowding at the Orita Merin foodstuff market in Ibadan. The Oyo State government under the military administration of Tunji Olurin then relocated many food stuff traders from Orita Merin to the new Bodija market in 1987. Along with the produce traders, cattle sellers from Sango, Ibadan were also relocated to the market. The location of the market is close to the Oyo -Ogbomoso-Ilorininterstate road network. This allows produce farmers from Northern Nigeria and from Northern Oyo state easier access to transport their produce to the market. Also, a timber market exist in close proximity to Bodija. The design of the market is such that each produce such as pepper, beans, rice and yam has its own rows of stalls.]The market is a mixture of open space trading and concrete and wooden stalls. A lot of wholesalers grativate towards ownership of the concrete stalls while retailers own most of the open space kiosks and trading locations. Source: Wikipedia

Emmanuel Frank OkorieVery good place to shop especially for food items. This market serves almost the whole of Ibadan but because of proximity people who live in Bodija, Akobo, Ojurin, UI, Samonda, Mokola and environs will benefit the more. If you are on a low budget, this place will suit your plan. Though in terms of organisation, it leaves a lot to be desired but they are really working it. Generally a big market.

Jorge OyewusiBodija market is a traditional typical south Western Nigerian market. It has open as wells lock up shops. You get to buy things in rows (alleys) garri, beans, rice, pepper, tomatoes, onions, vegetables, meat, beef, pork, chicken, goat and all sorts. Bodija is an old old market. It is reputed for cheap prices especially when you choose to buy in bulk. Vegetables arrive daily from all over Oyo state and beyond. There is always congested traffic mainly because of the volume of goods and products coming into and leaving the market. People come from all over Nigeria to shop and buy at Bodija market...mention "Ibadan market" and Bodija market readily springs to mind. I highly recommend this market for low prices, fresh products and solid value for money.
