The traffic can be dense and frustrating during rush hour and close of business during weekdays. In between these periods the traffic here is lighter. To avoid the occasional queue/congestion, it is safer to purchase the electronic subscription plan which provides automated access without stoppage on a dedicated lane.

Still not sure why Lekki residents need to pay tolls everyday multiple times or not getting a discount. Please like us that may travel to Lekki or Palms mall one/twice a week must pay tolls for sure but still I feel they are being overcharged. Some vehicles try to move from one lane to the other causing trouble or even at times harm to other vehicles. This needs to be prevented.

This is the main link road/passage between Victoria island and lekki in Lagos, and you have to pay to access the toll. The amount of toll fare you will pay depends on the type of vehicle, also you can get an e-tag where you will be given a card and tag with money being pre-loaded on the card. The fares are as follows. *Motor cycles - N100 (cash), free (e-tag). *Saloon cars and tricycles - N200 (cash), N180 (e-tag). *Sport Utility Vehicles - N250 (cash), N225 (e-tag). *Light truck and 2 axle buses - N400 (cash), N360 (e-tag). *Heavy duty trucks/buses with 2 or more heavy axles - N1000 (cash), N900 (e-tag). *Commercial danfo mini Buses - N100 (cash), N90 (e-tag). Vehicles with e-tags have a special lane dedicated to them, and there is a display that shows how much you have left in your account. The e- tag is actually cheaper and faster (most times).

This is a government and privately owned toll booth. It operates electronically with provision to pass about 6 cars per lane. It has a fully electronic pass that functions with e-tag. It is faster and cheaper to subscribe to e-tag. When approaching this toll booth, be sure to watch out for e-tag and exact fare lanes. Driving into e-tag lane without e-tag can attract some penalty and waste motorist time. If you drive into exact fare lane without an exact toll amount, you maybe forced to forfeit your balance

There are two toll gates on Lekki-Epe Express Way. The first one is a fee paying toll located around the Oriental Hotel between Victoria Island and Lekki area of Lagos state. The second toll gate which is non-fee paying is around Chevron. Lekki Toll Gate has options of either cash, card or electronic tag payments. The card and electronic tag payments is only for pre-registered customers of the toll who have accounts with the toll service providers. Prerequisites for registering and getting a card/e-tag is a valid vehicle and drivers license. Concerning cash payments, there is an assigned lane for commuters with exact fare to avoid delays and allow for free and quick flow of traffic.

This is the most ridiculous toll plaza I have ever seen in the world! Things do work in reverse here: the fast lanes (e-tag) move really slow, while other lanes move steadily. Apart from extremely poor traffic management at the plaza, users also display the usual canny Nigerian predilection for not following simple rules. I have witnessed several times people without e-tag on the fast lanes disrupting traffic flow or users on the exact fare lane arguing for change having wrongly decided to pass through. Sometimes, people with smart cards annoyingly delayed traffic because they are looking for the cards. Similarly, you see people searching their vehicles for money when actually they have the time to do this while on queue. This entire package is absurd - toll plazas in this corridor have to be removed.
