Imo river is an amazing river. It creates a boundary between Imo state and Abia State, Abia state and Rivers State and also demarcate few other States from the other. It is a good source of fish, water and other foods for many communities. Over the decades, it has always been a major source of sharp sand and other types of sand to many communities in the riverine areas and many States as well. Some people use it as a means of transportation, thereby moving people from one end of the land to the other across the river via boats.

One of the traditional land marks in Imo State. There is a better bridge over it now after the construction of the new Owerri - Onitsha road. It used to be steep and dangerous. With a little improvement, it is capable of becoming a tourist site especially considering the role it played in our tradition. The river can also be used for water movement.
