Not a student here but I came here for a church program at the Multipurpose Hall and my review is limited to this area. The hall is quite large and the electric power provided lasted the entire three days the program lasted. The toilets were kept clean throughout the event as well. The school environment was clean and quiet. The prices of food and snacks was quite affordable.

This school need a MAJOR upgrade. Many of the facilities are decapitated. The school has a "name", but if nothing is done soon, her old and good reputation may fade away. Obviously overpopulated. Most of the natural habitats for wildlife is constantly been destroyed to pave way for more buildings, unfortunately, these buildings are not to provide the much needed accommodation for the existing student population, but to create even more courses and ventures. This place has the feel of a business center than a place of learning.

The University of Lagos fondly called Unilag was established on 22nd of October, 1962. The University since its inception has been saddled with the responsibility of intensifying the training of a professional workforce that would bring about rapid change and development to the industrial, economic and political sectors of the nation. Driven by a mission “to provide a conducive environment for teaching, learning, research and development, where students and staffs will interact and compete effectively with other counterparts globally”, the University has grown over time starting up with just three (3) faculties, to having twelve (12) faculties, offering over 60 departmental courses; a college of medicine, and several research centers and institutes. The University of Lagos currently has three campuses. Two (2) in Yaba (Akoka and the recently created campus at the former school of Radiography), and one in Surulere; it’s College of Medicine located in Idi-araba. The main campus at Akoka is surrounded by the Lagos Lagoon providing a very beautiful view around the University. Enrollment into the University has grown from a startup intake of 131 students in 1962 to over 40,000 students. Unilag is fondly referred to as the “University of first choice” and the “Nation’s pride”. Students and alumni of Unilag are popularly addressed as "GREAT AKOKITES".

The university has a waterfront and the view is beautiful, a good sight of the famous longest bridge in West Africa, the Third Mainland Bridge (TMB). There is a park around the grounds of the waterfront with comfortable seats. It is unusual to find this place empty especially when school is in session. The university is highly recommended for study and visit.

The university has many other residential facilities and services for both staff and students. The University of Lagos has fourteen academic units comprising a broad range of professional faculties and schools. Most faculties are located on the main campus except the Faculties of Pharmacy, Clinical Sciences, Basic Medical Sciences and Dental Sciences, which are located within the College of Medicine in Idi Araba. The College of Medicine is also the site of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH). The university also has other centers and institutes in addition to the various departments in its faculties.
