It was named Awolowo Hall in 1972/73. Chief Obafemi Awolowo, which this hall was named after, was a notable politician, philanthropist and icon in Nigeria. As an indication of honour, students in Awolowo Hall see themselves in the light of the legacies Chief Obafemi Awolowo left behind. It has motto as castle of great men and centre of union activities
