Victoria NwabuisiThis is hands-down the best high school in Nigeria and this isn’t fluffy talk. Going to boarding school can be an exciting yet terrifying transition for many children but Preston...Preston was different. I attended this school from 2007-2013. As at 2007, the school was still very new, there weren’t as many infrastructures and I remember my Dad and I accidentally drove past the school sign just because it was barely visible and when we entered the school we were convinced we were at the wrong location. Good memories. In my six years as a prestonian, I was a witness to the power of vision. Mr. Toyin Ajayi, is a visionary leader! We need more leaders like him in Nigeria. Over 6 years, I watched my school transform in every sense of the word. Every! At Preston, I was challenged to grow spiritually, academically and socially. There was no infrastructure we lacked! We were always challenged to be creative and explore various forms of art and cultural expression. We were challenged to be leaders, to pursue Christ with all our hearts. We were challenged every single day to be a “shining light to the nations”. In Nigeria, music is still a budding part of society. A lot of schools do not really challenge their students to pick up music, musical instruments or explore their musical side, but at Preston, once again it’s different. We were encouraged to explore our individual musicality; whether you could sing or not, we sang hymns together every assembly. Academically, our results, even now, speak for the value of education you get here. As a Prestonian you learn that being a well rounded individual will make you stand out in every area of your life! Including your Academics. We wrote international exams, participated in various competitions, had great incentives to achieve the best result possible. Our Prioprietor continuously emphasized being intrinsically motivated in every area of life. Small interesting nuances I remember: We always had to keep to the left when we walked. We had to keep our hands off the wall. Always pick up litter! (The school is always CLEAN) Our Proprietor knew ALL our names!! Overall my experience here was fantastic! I could not have asked for a better high school! I graduated as the valedictorian of my year group and as the Head girl(2013) for this prestigious school. I learnt the true meaning of leadership from some of the most humble leaders I’ve ever met. This is 2019, almost 6 years after graduating and I still miss Preston. The Preston community is still so strong. Our Proprietor, we fondly call Props, is literally a phone call away from anyone of us! I have some of my teachers call me up just to check up on me and catch up...even NOW! This is what family is and Preston showed me and keeps showing me what Family is all about! This is a great school! I can’t emphasize or recommend it enough.
