  • U

Its a market situated on a very busy road. The traders could be seen, dangerously sitting on the tarred road in such a manner that moving vehicles needed to hoot incessantly,so the former could rise and take his/her wares off the road. Its also such a disorganized market where being a tout is seen to be at par with priesthood. This market was built to have a huge parking space underneath(at the basement) the building but even this very space has also been colonized by the these same traders with white labelled approvals from the marauding touts. Nevertheless,I found a great array of fresh food items, vegetables,as well as fruits and at amazingly great prices.

Ah! One of the first markets I visited in Lagos. Also one of the cheapest I have bought stuff in. The rail tracks give it a sense of presence and the old building arrangements to get there makes for a memorable evening. I walked there, you know.
  • E
    Efe Erhueh
It is a landmark area with relics of colonial rule. These relics are what males the market and its residential environment appealing. It reminds one of the glory of this place in years past. Currently though, subsequent state governments, have tried to establish a presence by giving facelift to existing colonial edifices. The only notable modern day government structure within this vicinity is a bus rapid transit terminal which has been in the works for God knows when! The relics of Oyingbo reminds one of what Lagos and to a very large extent other states in Nigeria, would have looked like if only we have men and women of sane minds in corridors of power that will continue with the development programs initiated by the British!!! Where did we go wrong???

The market is a major hub to buy vegetables and sea food, like crayfish and shrimps. It is also a traffic hotspot too most of the time, very limited places to park your car if you are driving, although there are private parking spaces that charge a fee. Except if you must drive there, I advice you go on a bike instead.

This is a very big open market. It has different sections by both product and quantity you are buying. Price per unit also ranges from location you buy from in the market, bargains power, seller (farmer, wholesaler, retailer, etc). There are public conveniences that you would be required to pay for. Local languages and English language are spoken in the market. The earlier the time in the day you go to buy in the market, the more possible it is to buy good quantity/quality/price. There are unofficial (to the market) parking spaces you could be required to pay for. Thank you

Oyingbo market is pretty busy. It tranverses Murtala Mohammed way,Coates road, railway compound and all the adjoining roads. Moving about in the market is quite an easy feat because of the constant throng of buyers and sellers. A wheelchair user would experience difficulty navigating some parts of the market. The market is however popular for movement of goods in and out of Lagos because of the presence of motor parks there. Market wares in this market are relatively cheaper compared with other markets in Lagos and Nigeria as a whole. This explain the constant throng of people in the market

Oyingbo is an open market where one could buy fresh food stuff that are mainly local to the environment. The market was not as busy as it could be. This, they attributed to a number of reasons. In the first instance, it was early on a Monday morning and some of the traders were yet to be back from their source markets. Again, the month of January is just ending and most buyers are yet to receive their salaries. In all, it was a very satisfying experience for me, because I made some good deals and both human as well as vehicular traffics within and around the market were minimal.

Mixed feelings. At Oyingbo Market, you can get virtually all forms of food stuff at cheap prices. The market is also open 24 hours with traders operating both day and night shifts. The market makes one remember how backwards Nigeria is. Crowded, filthy, and prime cause if traffic along that axis. Several attempts to modernize the market has failed.

Oyingbo market is a popular and very big place. It is always busy and bustling. In my opinion the market runs almost 24hrs. Market activities start as 3/4am with farmers bringing in there fresh produce to the wholesalers/commodity association; this aspect is swiftly concluded as the bulk breaker transact then the retailers take the rest of the day. This cycle continues. How cheap and fresh you buy depends on at which level of the value chain you are buying from.

This is a popular community market for generally food items. On display is food items: fruits especially seasonal fruits, food stuff and materials. It’s the best place, with respect to cost, for food stuff like rice, beans, corn seeds, etc. here you get to buy at wholesale prize and you get good bargains. I get flour here at good price. The only thing not so good about the market is parking. If you are driving, getting parking space is an issue as the street isn’t wide enough and cars park on both sides. It will be more convenient to get there driven.

Am giving the market a 4 because of the great prices of items but typically it would have being a 5 if not for market environs. The ground is messy (dirty) and muddy especially during rainy seasons. A great place to buy eastern Nigeria food items at great prices but that’s if you don’t mind the environment. I love buying food items from the market because of the price difference, compared to other markets around.

A typical Nigerian market, great for buying foodstuffs at cheap prices and in bulk, can be pretty busy and dirty at times, quite rowdy but good to get the best deals on for raw food items. Offers a wide range of items for sale, ranging from food items, second hand/new clothings, home goods, beauty tools, make up and hair. The market is quite dirty and there is lots of human traffic and you should be careful with personal items. Good for a Saturday shopping, there is no parking spot so be sure to either leave your car at home or find a spot before getting to the market.

Food stuff market, I really enjoyed buying food stuff likes of Rice both wholesale and retail stores, beans, fresh and tin tomatoes, potatoes, yams, Garri and alot. The road through yaba is always busy because of university and college of education in the environs. I prefer shopping in the afternoon than morning and evening rush. Overall things usually cheap here because people from local village bring their stuff for sale here. Mainly Hausa and Igbo because of motor pack and sea shore. I will highly recommend if you want to shop for wholesale, retail and house consumption.

This market is very rowdy and disorganised. It is not too far from Yaba and also close to costain. This market however is one of those places i know where you can get fresh and good food items at very cheap rates. These items could be Yam, Crayfish, garri, prawns etc - Just anything. However, keep your money and other valuables close while shopping and make arrangements for transportation. Please note that requesting for and using Uber or Taxify in this location is very difficult due to the various roads that link and how they link to make up one way hence the drivers might not be able to meet you up.

Oyingbo used to be on my usual route to work and going through Apapa road can be a nightmare. Everyone just seems to be mad. We’re all mad. The market itself is okay. It’s a good market for fish and other seafood even though you can get better deals at Makoko. Parking is limited. A new brt Bus Stop is under construction. It adds to the traffic.

Looking for an iorn market for food stuffs in Lagos? Oyinbo market is ypur very first option, very popular for its great deals especially for resellers and for users who shops for their food stuff in bulk. Neely renovated and wearing a better look, people still sell and buy on the streets, it is becoming a chaos again during the day. First it is not a very organised market, you need to k ow what you want and where to find it, the market is not clean, you would need to hold your bags very tight as all that troupes in there goes in with different motives. Parking space is not factored in during renovation, ypu find ypur psrking space ypurself, the miscreants helping to park the cars do not seure the car nor they stand in case of problems. Generally a great market for fresh food stuffs.
