The university is called THE UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA and it is the only university in Nigeria that is pronounced like this. The students of this institution otherwise known as lions and lionesses pride themselves as the students of the "only" University of Nigeria. While the students are called lions and lionesses, graduates of the institution are called by a more superior name, SUPER LIONS. There are over 14 facilities as well as over 100 academic departments in the university. The following are the faculties in the university of Nigeria(UNN); Agriculture, Arts, Biological Sciences, Business Administration, Dentistry, Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Health Sciences and Technology, Law, Medical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine. Majority of these faculties are within the Nsukka campus, the rest are elsewhere. The faculties within the Nsukka campus includes; Agriculture, Arts, Biological Sciences, Education, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Social Sciences, and Veterinary Medicine. Usually, students of medical sciences and nursing spend their first years in Nsukka Campus Before moving to Enugu Campus where their faculty is situated. UNN is a classic, prestigious, and most importantly it is an affordable university. Usually some people are deterred from tertiary education because of high cost. However federal universities are cheaper than state and private owned university. UNN is cheap, the only problem here is to "Jack" like every reasonable and future minded lion/lioness. The university is situated in Nsukka. Nsukka is a rural area, however, because of the presence of the university within its periphery, it can now be said that Nsukka is a university community. Consequently whatever development attached to a university community also applies here. The Effect of the university is highly felt in the area in terms of development or positive changes. The presence of the university has attracted hotels, restaurants, banks, transportation companies, boutiques and many other businesses to the area. The school provides school hostels at low cost to students. The hostels have water supply, power supply, toilet and bathrooms,reading rooms, football pitch, food vendors, canteen, good security, and wireless networks (wifi). Yet some students prefer to live outside the school hostel. There are many other places where students can live outside the school hostel, those hostels are usually referee to as off campus hostels. When a student decides to live off campus, that students goes through the rigours of finding an empty room or a person living off campus who is ready to move. Afterwards, the person pays house rent and monthly bills depending on the type of house and the nature of arrangement with the landlord. Some off campus locations in UNN includes the following; Hill Top, Odim, Odenigwe, behind flat, Staff quarters, Green House among other places. Finally, UNN is a place where legends are born, Kings are made, dreams come true and most importantly, the dignity of man is restored.
