They have come a long way from what it used to be. Conveniences are now friendly and air conditioning works. There is room for improvement tho. Please keep it up.

The busiest airport in Nigeria as of today. Good customer service, good security, good baggage handler. Nice environment. Clean convenience. Polite staff. Quick service. Good services compare to other government service providers. Ample space for waiting cool environment. Really a nice place if I must say.

Very busy all the time being the most popular and busiest airport in Nigeria and situated in the most populous and commercial state of this great country. Massive construction is on going as at the time of writing this review. A well and spacious as well as modern car park in is place with international standard I believe by the time all the constructions that is going on is being completed, I know it would be among the best airport in the world. I so much believe in my country and I am proud of what is going here.

Just our normal airport. Not where we want it yet but almost. Once the new one is opened I can give it a better rating

Worst airport in the world. Disorganized and corrupt. They use their rank and power to scare you. They fail to understand how to build good relationships with investors in their country. Threatening ppl is all they know. Zero EQ. They dont want to be challenged and dont know how self manage.

Very very beautiful airport. If one is connecting to the world from Lagos Nigeria, this is the place to take off. Busy from morning till dawn and the next morning, home of many international airlines from Fly Emirates to Etihad, Virgin Atlantic, Kenya Airways, Ethiopia Airways, Lufthansa, KLM etc. There are many shops and lounges for relaxation before take-off or arrivals. Very nice walkways for slight walks. This is just a memorable place!

Murtala Muhammed International Airport is one of the main airports in Nigeria.” The international terminal was opened in March 1979. The airport consists of an international and a domestic terminal, located about 1km from each other.

Domestic airport terminal in Lagos. Pretty busy I must say compared to others airports in Nigeria maybe because of the commercial nature of Lagos. But sure to get a pickup car waiting for you prior to your arrival for easeness and convenience

Abuja airport for both national and international travels, several travel agencies, and a whole lot more. It boasts a taxi service and has lots of hotels around in case of a missed flight. Eateries also abound. Flying from this airport is always a good experience.

Noting helpful airport staff who greeted and guided me throughout; and for the quick luggage drop off. It is indeed customary for most Nigerians to be courteous and helpful even when the expectation is for you to give money in kind!

There are different operators operating in this Port. This Airport is owned and controlled by the federal Government of Nigeria .

It has gotten a little better since my first visit in 2015. They are improving the road to get to the departures and arrivals. They have lounges to rest. The FIRST LOUNGE looks like the best because they have cell phone charge connections and place to sit and lie down and the food is included. The food at Mr. BIGG ok, not much variety and the only restaurant here. They have 2 snack shops and a book store, also a place to but cell phones, numerous places to exchange money and buy more data.

  • S

Average facility at a international platform. They are not organized and lots of area to be improved . I agree.they are making another terminal but this old facility is really bad and needs to be upgraded. Staff is helpful and taking care of customer. Entrance is building new way and access to main gate is small one .
  • A

Better than it used to be. But still an experience to avoid if you can. People harassment is high.
  • A
    Adewale Manuwa
The international airport is in desperate need of a total and absolute renovation/upgrade. The structure is old, dilapidated and outdated, there are literally no benches or chairs for waiting travellers (other than the small pockets of different food vendors where you have to purchase something I.e. pay in order to sit down), no screens with travel information, water in the restrooms is frequently not running... the list is almost endless. The vehicle pickup point for arriving travellers is simply chaotic and stressful, baggage takes way too long to get loaded onto the conveyor belt after arrival etc etc. I love my country but frankly speaking, the airport is nothing to write home about.
  • B

I like this airport because I could exchange foreign currency, there are ATM machines here, cars are here for rental, another awesome benefit of this airport is when my friend wanted to travel to Abuja from Lagos, he drove his car to the airport and parked it for the days he was in Abuja and he went back to Lagos and paid for parking with out issues. The airport is within residential and public road, so to get transportation to your destination is so easy.
  • E

Murtala Mohammed Airport Lagos Nigeria. Very busy Airport. This is the arrival section. At the moment a lot of construction and renovation is ongoing. Hence everywhere is busy. We should expect a better facility when the construction is over. But at the moment you need a lot of patience to get things done. And if you have a flight to catch at any time its better you leave well before time. The traffic around the Airport is unpredictable.
  • S

When visiting here please avoid parking on unauthorized parking places like roads, use the designated parking space only and obey their traffic rules and regulations. The fine for disobeying is 25000 naira and the people enforcing it are touts that are ready to get dirty.

Okay but could be a lot more better. The ACs are not functional and the escalators are rigid I did say. My advice, if your flight is scheduled for night, always have a blanket, coat, gloves and socks. It gets pretty cold at night. If you are also there to go pick someone, ask for the time the person will be landing to avoid parking issues and to also save time. It is okay though.
  • C
    Clement Chinaza Owuamalam
Amazing place. With International standards. It includes escalators, advanced security check-in and variety of restaurants in the premises.
  • N
    nkemjika kingsley
Clean environment, the busiest probably, subjecting innocent passengers on security watch because of little argument, shortchanging passengers on the quality of reserved or booked seat, reducing of the wait of a luggages from approved international standard, roughly and careless handling of passengers luggages.
  • E
    Emmanuel Emeh
Thirty years ago, this used to be a great place to visit. The restaurant at the upper lounge was a place my family used to spend Sunday afternoons feasting on grilled chicken and bottles of Malta. Unfortunately, this is about the worst airport amongst the top ones on the continent. The shameless soliciting and outright harassment by the various officials and workers is a matter of national embarrassment. I here the government is pulling the structure down, to make way for a more decent one.

One of the largest airport in Nigeria. Big entry point to enter Nigeria by air. So many renowned airlines coming to MMA. International terminal is separate from domestic but there is no connection between them. They has two immigration point with quite a number of immigration booths. Most of the time you will find helpful staff in all sector. Which I like most in MMA, when you have family / Kids they will give extra care in all sector. It has some lounges where you can passed the time while waiting for flight time. It has Muslim prayer area.

The local section of the international airport is beautiful. There were nice staff members. It was nice to see someone who wanted to genuinely help me with my bag even if I declined. The flight was late but not too long. Just a few minutes. The airport has food courts, coffee shop, jewellery by Pandora and so on. It was such an experience for local flights. The international section of the Airport needs chairs. It is only fun to stand for hours when you have friends you are gisting with. There could be charging ports for phones too. There are food courts there and other businesses.

I give this 3 star when compared to airports internationally though by Nigerian standards its the biggest and busiest airport so may deserve more. It is close to the similarly named Domestic airport and thus easy to connect to any other city in the country. A large number of international flights from Nigeria take off or land here. Not too easy to navigate hence you might need to ask questions intermittently. There are various lounges ranging from about 10,000 naira ($30), a duty free and several bureau de change.

This is an ever busy intercontinental airport with international and local wings. The international wing has one terminal, while the local wing has two terminals, known as Murtala Muhammed International Airport 1 & 2 (MMA1 & MMA2). The airport is safe, secured and clean with properly maintained public conveniences. The parking spaces at the International terminal and MMA2 are quite vast and properly organized and easy to access unlike the one at MMA1. They have short term and overnight parking facilities. The traffic congestion in the airport area is almost usually high, hence potential travellers must always put this into consideration, so as not to miss their flights.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport consists of an international and a domestic terminal, located about one kilometre from each other. Both terminals share the same runways. This domestic terminal used to be the old Ikeja Airport. International operations moved to the new international airport when it was ready while domestic operations moved to the Ikeja Airport, which became the domestic airport. The domestic operations were relocated to the old Lagos domestic terminal in 2000 after a fire. A new domestic privately funded terminal known as MMA2 has been constructed and was commissioned on 7 April 2007.

No rating should be given to this place. It’s one of the worst airports in history. Nothing functions in this place. The airport stinks from the plane. The government should renovate or demolish it. It’s a disgrace to the country as a whole. The corrupt immigration should be fished out and dealt with accordingly. The toilets need to be fixed. Diseases can spread from there. It’s too stuffy in there. The air conditioning system broke down along time ago and nothing has been done about it. The terminal that leads into Lagos itself smells of different foul odors. Through cleaning should be done to the airport at all times. In short, it should be closed down and rebuilt. The cost of renovating is as good as building a new one and this time, let them fix the maintenance department and empower them to sustain the architecture of the place.

Changed a lot in last 11 years - improved check in, immigration and luggage area. Large and convenient parking area, improved toilets are visible. Another major change is the Initial manual checking of luggages replaced by scanners ( further manual checks are there but only if scanners do not convince the officers). Further improvements? Stronger air conditioning in E gates, more food joints in the departure area, extension of the parking Shade till gate A/B in the arrival area ( so that people do not get wet during heavy rains).

This is arguably the busiest airport in Nigeria for both arriving and departing flights. It has a state of the art which is also multilevel parking lot. Difficult to put into words how awful this place is. Mostly no air conditioning, so absolutely stifling. Redundant security checkpoints that take hours to clear. Baggage claim took 2+hours. Hustlers aggressively trying to "help" you with your luggage so they can get paid. Good luck arriving at night, the curbside pickup road is closed so you have to walk away from the airport to an unsecure, dark area to get picked up while hordes of hustlers will try to shake you down for helping you with your luggage.

I MUST commend the current Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Customs Service (Col. Hameed Ibrahim Ali (Rtd)) for the sanity, discipline and professionalism he has brought to the service as evidenced at MMIA. I do not dread coming in the country because once am pulled over, I have my ‘not in the mood face’, and they let me go. Departure is a different case all together. Once they X-ray and you open your luggage for checks, you will hear, ‘he has food’. What else can I export from Nigeria? That’s authentic Nigerian? My sister - Oyin - filled half my suitcase with ‘assorted’; Asun joint - Adelabu & Ikoyi; Vegetables - steamed and squeezed, Ogi - Iya Ondo; KuliKuli - from Bida; Suya Pepper - Abuja; etc. Exhibit plenti, in short I had played the different scenarios with the Customs officers in my head until I almost had a headache and decided you will just have to ‘settle’ them, also had my brother on standby. Alas, my bags went through the x-ray machines and I was not stopped or questioned. I RAN for my dear life towards my airline desk. When I spoke to my frequent flier friend and told him, his reply was, ‘we are now a civilised country, all that nonsense has stopped.’ PLEASE LETS KEEP IT UP!!!! Nigeria go betta!!!!

MMIA is the most important airport and has indeed been synonymous with everything wrong with the country: chaotic and inefficient, installation too poor with the added lack of maintenance culture, too much of security and other govt personnel not doing anything but inconvenience airport users, bribery and corruption, abuse and extortion. Recent renovation has brought some improvements in terms of infrastructure and organisation but a lot more still needs to be done to raise the standard at this iconic airport.

Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA)[3] (IATA: LOS, ICAO: DNMM) is an international airport located in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria, and is the major airport serving the entire state. The airport was initially built during World War II and is named after Murtala Muhammed, the fourth military ruler of Nigeria.

Large airport, beware a lot of traffic going in and out of this airport so keep a safe time. Decent over all however feels very warm, toilet facilities are okay but could be better. The airport id an international airport is an airport that offers customs and immigration facilities for passengers travelling between countries. International airport in Lagos, Nigeria. The airport is currently being renovated and we are hopeful that it would be at or with its contemporaries. There is a multi level car park that keeps the aiport area sane and traffic free. Commuters are advised to utilize this more. Trolley service is not free. There are cash machines at various spots in the airport. Staff are always eager to help. The immigration process is efficient. Beware of touts and keep a close eye on your luggage.

I am giving it 3star not because it is; but because to me, this airport is home despite its frailties. Its very easy to navigate the airport and when compared to other local airports, its easier to get Uber or taxify without any disturbances at the airport. Hold up is an element of surprise at the local wing though. Try to get to the airport on time because it can spring up at any point. Local transport can be exuberant especially if they notice that you are a stranger, so get your app ready as soon as you arrive and get connected with a taxi.

Lagos International Airport is not the worst place to arrive or depart in Nigeria (try Port Harcourt for that experience). The immigration process is orderly. There is also a veritable and modern Air France-KLM lounge with pretty decent service (including a shower) which can be quite packed. In my experience the skybridges into the plane are quite often not working, then an old fashioned staircase is used.

Can be better than it is now. A lot of construction and renovations are ongoing at the airport. I believe the standard is being raised. There are more sanity around the airport now than my last visit. Workers are now more friendly and demand for gratification has drastically reduce. Passengers are no longer force to bring out the content of their Luggages in other to extort them. There is even a visa on arrival desks now without much ado. Things are getting better.

If you want to sum up Nigeria failed systems, visit Murtala Muhammed International Airport. Nothing works: Bribery, corruption, failed amenities, congestion, ghost staff, light fingered staff openly demanding money from passengers, touts, diverse men and women in uniforms.....the list is endless. I also witnessed two power failures before boarding! I first visited the airport in 1979 when it was first opened and it has been in a mess shortly after that. When you have expectations, you are setting yourself up for disappointment. Be prepared to be disappointed.

Murtala Muhammed International/Local airport is the only local and international Airport located in Lagos. The terminal 2 of the airport is said to be the first and only privately funded terminal in the country. It also boasts of the first and largest Multi-Storey Car Park (MSCP) in Lagos, Nigeria.

The airport needs serious improvement infrastructure and process wise. Most of the people working in the airport expects you to tip them for the things to go through. The security who checks the bags at the arrival was fighting to check my bag so that they ask me for money. I told them in advance I am big going to pay them a single Naira and they let me go even without checking the bag.

I will give them 3 stars Cos a lot has improved from the last time but many things need to be changed. Flew into Lagos 9am in the morning, you hardly have peace, was waiting for my bag, nearly 15 dudes rounded me. Trolley! Trolley!! I don’t need any trolley, they keep on pressurise me. I gave N500 to the dude leave me alone, before you knew it 10 - 15 rounded me - I gave each N200 - man!! Before I realise I have nearly 30 people following me, I just found out many standing in the arrival hall then - has no bussiness to be there, they are neither arrival passengers or taxi - how can airport allow people to dress up and come to the airport. Not outside but inside This need to change Departure - everybody asking for money - immigration etc. From here to here, anything for us. Many are in the airport without travelling. AC wasn’t working - both my arrival and my departure. All the ACs non is working. The weather was freaking hot, I nearly get roasted.

Muritala international Air port is one of the most important international airport in Nigeria as a whole. It is located at ikeja and covers a vast amount of land. It is always very busy both in the segment or section of the arrival and departure becàuse it is located in Lagos which is densely populated and consequently these factor affect the flow of people. The international Air port has a newly built car Park which can accommodate a lot of cars but attracts parking fee depending on the length of the stay of your car. The airport is heavily secured and adequate and effective measures are taking to ensure the safety of lives and properties of its citizens and also foreigners. It has alot of shops outside it where many things are sold and has a very few inside it. The airport does not hav a sitting space for passengers so you will see most people standing. The are alot of reconstruction going on in there so as to improve the situation of the Airport. It an be accessed through ikejà, oshodi or osolo way.

Significant Progress has been made in the last couple of years, the airport however still needs a lot of renovation/upgrading. The airport now has a Dufry Dutyfree store which sells quite a number of foreign brands but no proudly Nigerian brands... There are however quite a number of other stores that sell Nigerian Art, Souvenirs etc. The Heineken Bar is a great spot to hang out pre-boarding... Oasis Lounge is also probably the best lounge at the airport( Great WiFi, Very Comfortable, Offers Full English Breakfast only downside is that it’s accessible only by staircase, no elevator)SDS Lounge on the other hand is on the ground floor towards the E gates, staff could be better trained and also has limited offering of food and beverages, Best thing about the SDS Lounge is the boarding school type of sleeping beds available on the 2nd floor, this could come in handy if you have a lounge stay over. If only the Government would restrict the taxi drivers and the hustlers trying to sell you FX, I believe the airport would be a much saner place
