OLUGU NNEOMA OYIDIYAThe national museum is located at onikan, obalende to be precise. It has a packaging space of about a 100 motors. Well decorated and nearly arrangement environment. The art and crafts are divided into different seqments for easy accessiblity. The curators are very nice and understanding too. I would love to visit this place again.

I
ibrahim olawaleNational Museum is the perfect exposition of the history of Nigeria and its diverse cultural heritage. The museum was constructed in 1957. It showcases the works of art dating back to the era before Nigeria got independence. The museum narrates the story of the journey of Nigeria through the years. The Nigerian National Museum displays historical monuments and contemporary arts such as Nok Terracottas, brasses from Benin City, etc. One of the significant historical monuments you will find at the museum is the bullet-riddled car in which Nigeria’s former Head of State, Late General Murtala Mohammed was assassinated in 1976. The Nigeria National Museum is located at Awolowo Road, opposite Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos Island

T
Tina OlisehLovely experience, it more or less like a travel back in time.It was such a lovely experience.Good location, lots of resources, great learning, and everything to make a good museum. The curators are knowledgeable, but a lot more can be done in terms of preservation, lighting, an using multi media to enhance the experience of the visitors like the shooting of the late head of state, which the Mercedez Benz is present. Over all, I will recommend the visit, worth the time and ticket is great.

P
Patrick DauduThe national museum Lagos is located in the heart of lagos Island just beside the Tafawa Balewa Square TBS, that makes it easily accessible. The roads leading here are also good and typically devoid of traffic except there is an event at either TBS or Onikan Stadium. Though the museum doesn’t look attractive from the exterior, it holds a huge chunk of history. There are quite a number of notable features within the museum as you will be guided and a museum assistant. Cameras are not allowed inside which is weird to me, but that’s the policy. There is a small fee charged to access this place. The parking lot is big enough, but no accessibility (entrance and parking lot).

Pwana Dooshima DukuAfter visiting freedom park, the national museum was anticlimax! Pictures are not allowed inside the museum. There were some intriguing pieces of art that leaves one amazed at the skill that existed. Nigerian heritage and art is wonderful. My greatest desire was to see the Mercedes benz former head of state, General Murtala Mohammed was assassinated in. It was a mix of emotions. Still worthy of a visit. Recommended.

Anthony EsangThe National Museum was founded in 1957 by the English archaeologist Kenneth Murray. He had arrived in Nigeria in 1927 and initially worked as an art teacher. One of his students was the prolific and renowned artist Ben Enwonwu. He soon became Nigeria’s first surveyor of antiquities, and it was during his tenure that the National Museum was founded in Lagos. Amongst the rotating exhibits are included the Benin Ivories and bronzes, the Ife Bronzes and terracotta and the Nok Terracotta including works which date back to between 900 and 200 BC. It is important to note that there are no cameras allowed in the Museum. The museum may not be properly maintained, but importantly the artifacts are intact.

Ahmed YusufRepresenting a country overflowing with diverse cultural heritage, the Nigerian national museum is the perfect expo of Nigerian history. Showcasing works of art dating back to the pre-independence era, the museum tells the story of Nigeria’s journey through years of progressive growth. The museum also houses the bullet-riddled car in which the country’s former Head of State – late General Murtala Mohammed – was assassinated in 1976. The museum is also home to a fine range of intricately decorated calabashes from across Nigeria. The National Museum Lagos has a small crafts village with woodcarvings and other handicrafts for sale at fixed prices; you might also see a demonstration of adire – cloth-making from Abeokuta.

Ogo MaduewesiA tourist visiting Lagos or one living around or Nigerian touring the national treasures of Nigeria, National museum located at Onikan area of Lagos around Museum center and TBS. First the location is attractive to me than the compund, a bit of nature in the hustling and bustling city. My expectations were very high the first time, not disappointed though expected much more. It can be a very friendly environment when you by the rules otherwise... I wish they upgrade and utilise the beautiful compund more.
