Mahbub BasetLongest bridge of Lagos connecting mainland & islands of Lagos city. Thousands of vehicles commute everyday with lots of memories through this 11.8 Km Long Bridge. I probably crossed this bridge over thousands of times now and still crossing. Any repairing work on this leads to a chaotic traffic situation in Lagos city.

favour yusufThird Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island to the mainland , the other are the Eko and Carter bridges. It was the longest bridge in Africa until 1996 when the 6th October Bridge located in Cairo was completed. The bridge starts from Oworonshoki which is linked to the Apapa -Oshodi express way and Lagos- Ibadan express way, and ends at the Adeniji Adele Interchange on Lagos Island. There is also a link midway through the bridge that leads to Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba . The bridge was built by Julius Berger Nigeria PLC and opened by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990; it measures about 11.8 km in length.

Jacob DamilareIf you are living in Lagos and you don’t know the Third mainland bridge then I guess you are in another Lagos. Third mainland bridge is the longest bridge in Lagos even longer than the Long bridge. This bridge is quite a sight, the ability to put such structure on the water is a thing of marvel. It’s getting old now though and maintenance isn’t up to standard, so don’t get your hopes to high

O
Obioma OsuagwuIt is what it is! The longest bridge in town. Third Mainland bridge can be both a source of joy and pain to any road user, depending on when you use it. On weekdays, going to the Island from 6am to 8am and returning from 5pm to 7pm, you would wish you were somewhere else as the gridlock forces you to grow old in minutes. Whereas travelling on it on weekends is a pleasure to behold. Every Lagos resident needs to be on it at these times to truly understand what lies on Third Mainland bridge.

O. DestinyThe longest and one of the most important in the country but it could use a lot of work to be ranked among the best. This is not the best place to be plying your poorly managed car because a breakdown on this terribly managed yet almost indispensable bridge could give you one of the most unforgettable moments in your life. Unforgettable not for a positive reason.

adekunle samuel adeniyiRemove this bridge from the architecture of Lagos state and you have a transportation chaos in the state. It is the major bridge connecting the mainland to the island part of Lagos state. It is the longest and busiest in the state and the entire country. The peciliarity of traffic on that bridge is particularly different from the experience on other bridges or road.

Benjamin OlusolaCities are first imagined with the eyes of the mind before they are built by the hands of men. Such is the grandeur of The Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos Nigeria which once was the longest bridge in Africa. The Third Mainland Bridge is a connector to the commercial heart of Lagos. It is a mother road which feeds the Mainland, Island and other exterior parts of the Island e.g Lekki, Ajah etc. The 3rd Mainland Bridge is a pivot to why Lagos is a mainstream City globally. The Bridge is known to be on "Holiday - less trafficked" on weekends and/or public/state-declared Holidays. Ceremoniously, in a spectacular event made global by Gov. Akinwunmi Ambode, the Bridge played host to The Lagos City Marathon that saw 16 foreign nationals attend viz Kenyans, Ethiopians, Cameroonians, Ghanaians, Tanzanians, Zimbabweans, South Africans, as well as Americans, Canadian, French, Indians, Lebanese, Japanese, Chinese, Colombian, Northern Irelander etc. which is a clear indicator that the Bridge is a strong and robust diplomat. Other activities around parts of The Third Mainland Bridge experience middle scale fishing by Egun locals(Badagry natives) and boat riding along the Lagos coast. Kudos to General Ibrahim Babangida, the man who saw the future of Lagos and built the Third Mainland Bridge but a question pops up on my mind, why did the General build the famous Third Mainland Bridge? There is usually traffic in the mornings when majority of the Lagos workforce travels from the mainland to the island and the trend repeats on the other lane in the evenings/nights, when they return home. Want to beat the traffic? Try alternative routes. A ride on the bridge is most enjoyed when it is free. God Is GreatThird Mainland Bridge is the link between Lagos mainland and Lagos island, which run from Oworonshoki to Adeniji. Usually very busy during working days and less busy during weekends. From the bridge, you can view the lagoon. An alternate bridge is urgently needed to cater for the usually high traffic being experienced on the bridge.

Theophilus Emmanuel3rd mainland bridge has my favorite morning views of UNILAG. Not sure if the bridge has any extra ordinary features per se, but its a critical piece of infrastructure in Lagos state. Traffic without the bridge would be HORRENDOUS in Lagos, especially between the mainland and Lagos islands (ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Lagos island). The best feature of the bridge IMO is not the bridge itself, but the officials of the LRU (Lagos Response Unit) with their uber cool BMW R1200RT Authority motorbikes!
