O
ojewale olaideReal show of brilliance in the form art from the entrance to burglary to the pieces on display. You could walk in and around for free. You just have to heed to the really easy house rules. You could buy any piece of your choice. You should definitely visit this place if you love art. The parking space isn’t so big (not sure if they have more than 1) but it was just fine. Took all cars available as of the time I was there. I guess it wasn’t “peak” hour for visitors.

T
Temitope PopoolaBeautiful hall, Loads of lovely arts, nice ambience, well lit... You can take lovely pictures and also buy your favorite arts.
-
O
Olanlokun DaramolaGreat ambience with palm wine offerings at the entrance. The yard displays sculptures you’d have to closely examine to understand the level of detailing each of them possess. There are 3 floors above the ground floor each with remarkable art you need to look closely at to understand the sort of work it takes to create them and the commitment it entails to finish such pieces. It features works of different artists and most of the older works are in the top floors. The pieces are in different sizes. It’s definitely a lovely alternative to other popular activities. Sure is a good place for a date as it helps you discover how the other person perceives things. Parking isn’t the biggest so you might consider making space for others when you are done or taking a taxi there. Pictures are allowed as long as you are in it as well.

F
Folusho A AdelekanYou are warmly embraced by the vividness of Nigerian art when you walk into this beautiful Art Centre set in over 4 floors packed full of Art - paintings, sculptures and other art installations in all their glory. Only criticism is they didn’t seem to have enough staff or easily identifiable staff so it was difficult to make inquiries on pieces of interest. Also be sure to go with a platinum debit/credit card or a bag of money. Prices aren’t for the faint hearted but negotiable. You have to really truly appreciate the craftsmanship and creativity that goes into the art pieces to understand the pricing of the beautiful pieces displayed at the gallery. However if you can’t yet afford the more pricey art pieces, you can opt for wearable art by purchasing the adire cloth pieces (t-shirts, kaftans, scarves and fabric) and African jewelry pieces. It is also a fantastic place to take pictures using the art as a backdrop. However, it says picture taking isn’t allowed but this is apparently not monitored as I saw a few people taking pictures in the gallery. Also if you have children below 10 with you, you need to sign an indemnity form because kids below 10 aren’t allowed in the gallery.

Mahbub BasetJust 15 minutes drive from Lekki/VI toll gate ( depends on traffic), this place is a must visit if you really love paintings. You will find a large collection of authentic paintings of the celebrity Nigerian painters. The owner was available during our visit on a Saturday and she was amazing. Interesting part is that the restaurant/snack bar outside did not charge us for the minerals that we bought. We were told that it is a courtesy from the management. If you can afford, want to buy authentic Nigerian paintings, can try out Nike ( they will provide you the certification of authentication).

Kunbi AdetayoIf you want to buy good art, window shop for good art, want to visit a world class arts gallery, then this is the place to go to. I like the fact that there is also very reasonably priced artworks for as low as N5,000 which is to encourage everyone to be able to purchase artworks. Ther is also a crafts shop at the gallery for handmade bags, jewellery etc. And best of all, Professor Nike the gallery owner is also at the gallery welcoming guests! What could be more receptive than that?

Ahmed YusufA magnificent five-storey building coated in spotless white, standing high and proud in its environs, Nike’s Art Gallery tells its story from the outside. The fence of the compound is adorned with rare marbles. Its walls are covered in different artistic inscriptions and drawings. You immediately feel a deep sense of awe once you walk through its colourfully tattooed black gates. This historical abode ranks high in the list of bedazzling Lagos destinations. From the inner courtyard of the gallery where you’ll find the stone sculptures, tie-dye workshop, and hanging craftworks, to the wide variety of art displayed inside the magnificent structure, you can rest assured that your love for Nigerian art will go through the roof.

Lola AdebiyiThis is one of the must to go places in Lagos Nigeria. The gallery houses some of the most creative unique artworks in Nigeria. It is also hosted by a boisterous woman whom the gallery is named after. The building is about 4 floors and all houses all these unique pieces of art, culture and history. From sculptures, mosiac, canvas art, clay-wood-brass-iron etc. media. I intend going as often as I can with like minded lovers of art.

Elizabeth A AjadiWow Nike Art Gallery is a wonder. I felt joy being surrounded by over 20000 indigenous art pieces. Taking in the works of art renewed my appreciation for artsy people. The pieces are so unique and creative and what amazed me the most is that some of the pieces were created using recycled items that are typically discarded. Kudos to Madam Nike for starting this initiative, it’s simply a must see in Lagos.

A lovely friendly., relaxed and informal atmosphere. Suitable for a family trip. The opportunity to purchase work from up and coming artists. The only small issue I have is that I would have liked more information on sone of the main artists and also on some of the major pieces. What a great place and great day out

mzamo masitoArt is life and Nike Gallery is all of Nigerian life - it’s lows and highs, it’s pride and prejudice. It’s tribalism and nationalistic pride. It’s religions and addictions. It’s Makoko, Market and islands contrasts. Now it’s soul is not seen and felt and experienced through its Matrial founder - the great mother, great Chief Nike, always loving, motherly, caring, a custodian of all That is colorful and wise about Nigeria. I could boldly say all that is soulful about AFRICA.

Alexander EmmanuelNike Art gallery is one of the locations in Lagos that takes you on an incredible journey on the history of what it means to be African. The gallery through art tells the story of a people who are unique and incredibly gifted. The building stands out amongst many other buildings in the area , thereby making it conspicuous if you are visiting for the very first time . it can be accessed via the Lekki-Epe Expressway off Ikate inwards Victoria Island. A bike ride from Maruwa Bus stop can also take you to the place. From Ikate Bus stop its a trek-able distance. If you are looking to get an art piece, you should check out Nike art gallery.

Janine TravelGuideNike Art Gallery deserves a six star rating. It is a beautiful, modern building designed by a gifted lady to warehouse the best cultural artifacts of Nigerian heritage. The centre boasts of art - paintings, sculptures, wooden, bronze; of traditional African clothing and accessories such as beads. Here craft is taught - tie and dye, beading etc. You can also get a cultural troupe performance. A very good place for connoisseurs of culture looking to feed their palate. A great expression of Nigeria

Fest NovicThis gallery is like a treasure island with a variety of unique pieces to choose from. We were fortunate to meet with the lady that runs the gallery and she is a free spirited individual who openly invited us to come back for a meal. Nike Art Gallery is unique and should have something for everyone. There is a ton of art pieces at the gallery and due to the time I spent in there, I found it so hard making a choice on a art piece. I will recommend a visit to the gallery and will be visiting again myself.

Alexander ZawiszaA group of us are here from the US, UK and Russia for work & our local contact took us out for a fun day tour of Lagos. He knows Nike and we got to meet her and she had one of the gallery staff give us a private tour. It was an amazing experience and the visit was so informative. There are 4 levels of art from all different types of artists, including pieces by Nike, herself. Would recommend a visit here for anyone who is interested in international art.

O
Ogo MaduewesiNike Art Gallery, the famous and infectious gallery on Lekki, Lagos. Are you a tourist or just visiting Lagos, Nigeria? Nike Art Gallery is one of the places you just have to go for Arts, raw entertainment. Practical training of Tie and dye, dance and learning local dance steps and so much more all in a short time of about 1 - 2hours. Nike, the mama is a very great host. You are welcomed by traditional drummers and beautiful lovely and smiling faces... They are very friendly and really really entertaining. You get to take pictures with their indigo wears, the beads and all, you can just become loyalty in minutes if you so wish. There are tones of Art works, amazing beaded arts by Nike, tones of batik and tie dye available for you to purchase. There is an annex where they have house interiors on display, you can see much more in the pictures

Ogiekhona UmoruThis is by far the largest Art Gallery in West Africa, housed within a 3 storey complex, it would also win the accolade for "the longest gallery" in W. Africa if measured in terms of its area span , Whilst taking pictures, I covered an estimated 2 kilometer distance within the complex, suffice me to add that there are loads of exhibits kept in storage due to lack of display space. You would find in this gallery, works of artists from a wide range of backgrounds, ethnicities, demographics and artistic mastery. If like me, you are lucky to meet Chief Mrs Nike Davies-Okundaye, the Chief Curator and a renowned artist herself, you will be humbled by her simplicity, hospitality and outright humility. This is the one place in Lagos i can spend a full day and not get bored, Time seems to stop until you get warning signs from your belly

O
Olufeyisayo Sofolahan SoewuEasily one of the best tourists attraction this country has to offer. For a long time, there had been that yearning to visit Nike Art Gallery but there had always being one excuse or the other. Several trips have been made to the Lekki area but none ever tool me the way of the gallery until I had to organise a Local Guides crawl and the last stop was the gallery, it needed up being an experience, for those who attended, not to be forgotten any time soon. As we got to the entrance, we were welcomed by a dancing troupe and we danced to the rhythm of the drums and the singing, it was so much fun. Let alone did we know we were in for what was to come as we walked through the doors. On entering the main gallery, you get this sense of being in a completely different world greeted with art covering every wall of the gallery, spread across four floors. I stood at the main reception area for a few minutes in awe, not moving but taking in the world that had just opened before my eyes. The rest of the visit I am not sure words would do any justice, but I would always encourage anyone who has any interest in the arts to visit Nike Art Gallery. Kudos to Chief (Mrs.) Nike Okundaye, who has done very well, not just for herself, but for people from all over the world, who have an appreciation for the arts.
