Gigantic building with avalanche spaces for shops. Hitherto, the shops were opulent for many potential shop users, but now the prices are reasonable. Neat environment and lovely occupants who sell various stuff ranging from curtains, clothes, material for clothes, restaurants, ATM inter alia. The only challenge is the toilet where they charge customers and shop occupants. This should be looked into strategically and to avoid misuse.

It is just rather unfortunate that those miscreants that keeps pulling peoples hands when they walk pass will never leave. I particularly like the market because it has varieties, it serves the average class and the lower class of people. One very impressive thing about the market is that whatever time you go there it is always busy and active. They literally stay till midnight. A lot of shops are yet to be occupied because i learnt the rent is high. From my observation, about three persons could be using one shop to sell their items to save cost on rent. The complex has a toilet for persons that may need to use it.

My firm provided marketing services during the redevelopment of this property. Rather surprisingly, it has rapidly turned to an eyesore of a supposedly "modern shopping complex". The vicinity and surrounding infrastructure look totally uncoordinated; both vehicular and human traffic have a hard time trying to navigate leading especially to loss hours sitting in traffic. More annoying is the unkempt environment and wanton display of wares by squatters and street traders. Difficult to belief that we failed yet again to use this important redevelopment to improve and upgrade facilities for commercial activities in the area.

Tejuosho Ultra Modern Complex is relatively new. It is in the heart of Tejuosho market after the railways crossing in Yaba market. It features a lot of stores that are let out to market women and other traders. It is home to Mama Tega Cosmetic store and other popular shops. It is in front of Nigeria Television Authority (NTA 5) and it has Ojuelegba/Yaba road in front of it. There also a lot of boys advertising their wares to passero by and women hawking drinks and other consumables around the mall. It is very large and does not have a lift so it can be pretty difficult navigating the mall.

Even though the market has evolved over the years to an ultra modern market/ mall, I still miss the Tejusoho market I know in the 90s. The market back before the fire outbreak years ago was able to attain to the needs of the middle class Nigerian. Currently, the market is run by 2 big commercial banks; First Bank Nigeria and Zenith Bank. Personally, I like the great job Zenith Bank is doing there. There is a big SPAR supermarket where one can shop for household item, electronics and food item. Also in the shopping mall, there are some make up shops where they one can get a wide array of affordable make up product. I particularly like the experienced service offered by the staff of Mama Tera’s shop. They are rarely in a hurry and ensure clients leave satisfied and happy about their purchase. The mall still has a need for a film house or theatre.

The Tejuosho Ultra Modern market is new and offers complete shopping under one roof. There is adequate parking space at the basement. It has water supply and toilet facilities. The environment generally is neat; although, it could be better. The complex is fenced and I saw some guardsmen around the premesis; it appears to be a secure environment. In terms of safety, I think a lot still needs to be done. The parking area was dark, without electricity; this needs to be lit. Some gutters around the complex were not well covered. I witnessed a girl accidentally step in an open crevice and sustained injuries. Generally, the complex is a big improvement from the old Tejuosho market. Kudos to the government for the remarkable improvement.

Memories of Tejuosho growing up are quite unpleasant. Crowded, smelly and generally unpleasant. Thank God for the fire. The Ultra Modern market is big, well planned and quite spacious. Has quite a bit of underground parking and has a variety of shops. Sadly due to the price, the crowd and variety of business types that used to be in the old market have been unable to take up space in the new, leaving the place looking abandoned and half empty.
