Ekiti State University is one of the institutions that does not have catchment area. They admit students from all over Nigeria. There are campus shuttles from the heart of Ado-Ekiti to the school.

Falade Joseph DamilolaEkiti State University was created through a bill passed into law by the State House of Assembly and then signed into law on 29th March, 1982 as Ondo State University (OSUA) Law No. 3 of 1982 by Governor Michael Adekunle Ajasin, it was published as the Schedules 3 Section 9 (3) and 6 in the Ondo State Official Gazette Extraordinary No. 14 Vol. 7. After the independence of Ekiti State from the old ondo state, the university name was changed University of Ado Ekiti (UNAD), after some years, the name changed to Ekiti State University. Till date (2018)
