Froyal BellahA fanatic experience! The view us absolutely breathtaking and undeniably beautiful. I loved the experience. You have to be strong to climb the steps though. It was very tiring for me but once you get to the end of the steps, the rest is very easy. The story of the villages at the top of the hill is also quiet interesting!.

Damilola AderohunmuLike most tourist centers in Nigeria, it is underdeveloped and not maximized to it’s full capacity. The climb up is quite easy and if you get an interesting tour guide, you might get a nice history of the hills and it’s time as a settlement. The view is definitely magnificent and the hills have a tendency to make you marvel at it all. Explore the town itself if you can. The pounded yam is premium

Liesel81For our visit to Idanre we had slept in akure the night before and made it a day trip . The drive heading up to Idanre already revealed how breathtaking and beautiful the landscape is. There is a tourist center at the base where you purchase your tickets. Tickets were at a 1000 per person and you give whatever you agree with your tourguide as an appreciation for the tour. With the help of our tour guide Richard we made it up the 682 steps to the peak. When accessing the great steps that lead to the peak you will come across five resting and viewpoints. On the top you can explore the following the old court at Odeja since 1906, Oshokogbe stone site used for the Apon festival back in the days, Omi Apaara the thunder stream, Igboore primary school from 1896, the tourist charlets from 1954, Omi Arun, Ancient palace and courtyard, Chief Lorin house, Asurin quarters and the wonderful rock. In total we spent three hours exploring idanre without long breaks so if you wanted long breaks you may need more time

Kennedy IbehThis was a fun experience. The people are welcoming and hospitable. Our tour guide was lazy but thanks to the indigenes, we had a fun filled experience. Special shout out to the elders, pay your respects to them while you’re here. Besides the smell of poo and the poorly maintained rest stops, this is a piece of nature you need to experience with friends.

Esther Yinka-BabalolaBeautiful scenery! Love the fact that most of the historical artifacts have been preserved and are being maintained. - The first primary school in idanre since 1897 - The old customary court - The ancient palace - The local stream which was the only water source for the locals before civilization etc etc The tour guides are quite knowledgeable about the history of the location. Lovely view from the top of the hills. It was a fantastic experience.

FrankThebelliThis was one of the best location I had been to as a practicing geologist. Idanre Hills is a well maintained tourist location. The landscape is amazing and they have people and ancient culture and artefacts preserved. Tour guides are readily available and are hospitable. The resort provides you with the options of table tennis, restaurant and bar. The ancient sculptures and anthropological features of the original settlers are kept and shown to visitors. It is affordable and secure

Ezim OsaiThe climb was so amazing! 682 steps to the top of the settlement with 5 rest points along the way. At the top you can see the settlement which lasted over 800 years, the primary school, court, palace etc. Overall it was a really great experience and the guide really knew his onions. Only down side is the fact that structures are not very well maintained in a lot of places but Idanre is really worth it.

Ahmed MustafaIdanre hills in Ondo State is one of the most exhilarating sites in the South West of Nigeria. With Over 600 steps to get to the top of the hill, it is well worth the climb. The view from atop the hill is beyond words and one that is best experienced. There’s a gate fee and is the case with most of these kind of sites. 1000 is what I I had to pay but if one goes in a group, the prices are very negotiable. There’s a tour guide that is readily available to go on the climb with you and I’ll advise you go with him. It would cost a little bit more with the guide but you would need him to talk you through the historical background of the hills.

Fidelia AkihomiIdanre Hill is one of the most beautiful natural landscapes in Nigeria. Added to Idanre Hill beauty, which fires human curiosity is the fact that the entire people of Idanre lived on these boulders for almost a millennium. Located in idanre town, about 24 kilometres southwest of Akure Ondo state capital the ancient Idanre Hills had been a home for the Idanre community for almost 100 years. IDANRE HILL IS A UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE As a natural and cultural landscape, Idanre Hills stands out well among all other places that have been listed in UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is a cluster of intimidating and imposing hills housing some wonderful things which confound the senses. The hills surround the town, envelope it and dominate life in the town. From any angle, one sees the hills and virtually every activity revolves round this collection of hills. IDANRE HILL FLORA AND FAUNA Apart from that cultural role, the town pulls the wealthy and the commoner, basically due to its perceived mystical aura and the giddy excitement lovers of nature get when they surmount the steep, daunting climb to the top, to witness a spectacular view of the new town and adjoining hills in a breath-taking manner. The flora and fauna of the place had been under scientific study for several decades. The topography of the place will be of great value to mankind. Its physical attributes include Owa’s Palace, Shrines, Old Court, Belfry, Agbooogun foot print etc.

Omobolanle AmureI would suggest wearing proper hiking or walking shoes and carrying a backpack. A morning vist will also be better when the sun is not blazing. Having at least 2 bottles of water and a handkerchief is very essential

Ruxton AdebiyiFun and educative adventure, especially if you like hiking. Several rest-spots available for weaklings :-) A tour guide tells the history and may help with group photos. There are crystal clear cool springs at the top.

Timi OshinThe landscape of Idanre hills is magnificent. However my group and I visited Idanre hills during the Ogun festival, a sacred festival that occurs during the month of October and spans 7 days. To cut the long story short, I wouldn’t advise coming here in October. You will come across festival worshippers and locals who will harass you for money at every 200m from the entrance into the town to the actual hiking site. When we finally arrived the site, we were displeased to find out that hiking to the very top was a taboo according to local tradition and so we were only allowed to hike to a certain point. We very displeased by this as we had hoped to get to the very top and witness the total beauty of the landscape. We climbed about 600+steps (I forget the exact number). Total hiking time was about 1.5 hrs.

daniel fasanyaGreat hiking trail. My daughter did all 660 steps unassisted even where men failed. You need to be fit to get on this hike. Beautiful experience. Palm wine available at the entrance for a token. Well maintained facility. Please climb with a bottle of drinkable water. Tour guides also available.
