The area is named after the old motor park where commuters in the city board vehicles to different parts of the country. Though it is still partially used as commercial motor park but dominated by other business activities where selling and buying goes on in the built shops owned by the state government and along the roadside. Prominent among the motor parks here are the Enugu State Transport Company (Entraco) and the Peace Mass Transit (PMT). These and other small transport companies provide inter and intra transport services commuters. Also located at the Old Park are:- The Metropolitan Headquarters of Enugu North Local Government Secretariat, The Nigerian Prison Service Enugu Prisons and branches of different commercial banks. It is the busiest part of Enugu metropolis where commercial activities go on almost through the day.
