It has been down for a long time due to poor management over the years, it will be renovated and abandoned which has been like a trend for various Government. It has a huge historic value to the people of Edo state and Nigeria at large, as a good number of great athletes and footballers owe this place to their success. Currently there is renovation going on and it is yet to be completed a 100% for all sporting activities to resume.

It is currently under reconstruction by Governor Obaseki, given that Bendel Insurance Football Club of Benin, have gained promotion to the Nigerian Professional Football League and would like to play their matches there. Also, Bendel Insurance is one of the oldest football club in Nigeria with cult following and the teeming fans are ready to return to our infallible home ground
