If you want a place to learn about the history of slave trade in Calabar, this is the place. If you want to relax and enjoy the cool breeze of the Riverside, this is the place. The pictures in the museum are awesome. The audio sounds great and looks so real. I am never tired of going there.

A place that is gradually going into oblivion. Poor maintenance culture. However, it still reveals a lot of what slave trade did to Africa

This has got to be one of the best slave museums I have visited. The art here literally comes to life. They have been able to recreate dummies that look real and they also attached voice-overs for each section. The tour guides are passionate and knowledgeable. There is an entrance fee of not more than 500 Naira. It is a must visit if you are in Calabar.

The museum was really enlightening for me as the tour guide explained the slave trade era in details. I was initially scared seeing the sculpted representations of the Slaves (you have to take a second look to know they weren’t cadaver); we were shown the different scenes representing different eras during the slave trade period, as well as how the slaves were auctioned and sold off

History is fully recorded with artifacts and other items that are exhibited. The Curator gives you a clear explanation as to events that occurred. The environment is pretty good and there are places to sit and relax.
