Radio Benue is a provincial station that broadcasts on two channels, FM and AM. It can be found on frequencies 95.0 megahertz on the frequency modulated band and 918 kilohertz on the medium wave band.With its headquarter in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, it has a sub- station in Idekpa, Ohimini Local Government Area. A similar sub-station located in Katsin-Ala town was burnt down in 2002. The process of its rebuilding is on. Radio Benue is essentially a public service oriented organisation with a civil service structure and funded by the state government. It transmits from 530am to 12midnight every day. English is the major language of use but programmes, News and adverts are also run in several local languages including Idoma, Tiv, Igede, Etulo, Akweya and Ufia. Although there are now some other radio stations within the State, Radio Benue remains the best, most affordable, accessible and effective means of information dissemination around. The chief executive is the Director-General. There are five Directorates including News and Current Affairs, Programmes, Engineering, Administration and Finance, and Marketing. Each is headed by a Director.
