Sam Mbakwe International Airport has been serving several individuals in Imo State for a long time. It has a large packing space with clean environment, good restaurants, standard securities on guard, & their services on arrival & departure is one of a kind, unique.

It is an old but efficient airport mostly used by easterners. Located in Imo state. They had a quick response service there too. I honestly think a renovation if the place would give it a nice facelift. Apart from that, it is just ok.

Conveyor belts worked and check in was a breeze. Rest room was clean with running water. No air conditioning in the departure hall. No bus for passenger transfer but walking distance to plane is minimal as planes park close to terminal. Runway is smooth and no cows were observed on the runway.

Nice facilities, nice staff, flights are often on time, nice security staff. The arrival hall has no space for waiting, only few chairs, so your guests need to wait outside. The toilets are clean and always maintained. Food sold in the premises are nice and affordable. There are couple of outdoor restaurants outside the building. The access road to the airport is currently under maintenance, so you may want to arrive early enough for your trip.

The arrival lounge is very poor in my opinion, the departure lounge is better but the surrounding environment is terrible... how can rickety bikes be allowed in an airport though?? And there are taxis but dont expect ANYTHING fancy... the food courts within aernt that bad but to my dismay they dont sell swallow, that can only be gotten outside the airport building.

This airport is located at Ngor Okpala, Imo state. 15 minutes away from Mbaise and about 20 minutes from Owerri the capital. The airport could be better as regards ambience but it certainly serves the purpose. Taxify services available and an average of N6,000.00 for normal airport taxi to Owerri (which is high).

This airport is a busy alternative into the Eastern part of Nigeria, especially she travelling to Abia or Ebonyi State. Airport taxis are readily available and access to the city is easy because it is located at a part of Owerri were development id fast closing up on it. Foe now, only Dana Air, Arik, Aero Contractor and Air Peace fly from Abuja and Lagos to this destination.

Sam Mbakwe airport serves Imo state and its environs. It is small and poorly lit. Staff are friendly. The usually clean airport was extremely smelly on this date of this review. The baggage claim area could do with brighter light. There are airport taxis available to go on short and long distance travel. The departure Longe has some restaurants serving food and drinks at an affordable costs. There is an executive lounge on the upper level. No WiFi available at this airporrt but there are charging ports around the lounge.

There was no light in the airport the last time I travelled and passengers were sweating profusely and very uncomfortable in the heat. I was too!!!!!
