This is a sprawling expanse of business area. The human traffic within this market is jam packed . I once went there to grind peanut butter and there was not waiting space even for one to stand. It is surprising that despite the size of this market, people still have to travel to Onitsha to buy replacement parts for every appliance or utensil .

The Eke Awka Main Market is the largest market in Awka metropolis. You are virtually guaranteed to find what you intend buying there. There are a few drawbacks: 1) the walkways are narrow and as a result, the market can easily be very congested especially during rush hour periods between 3.30pm-6pm Monday-Friday, almost always throughout Saturday, and around festive periods like Christmas and Easter. 2) The road network around the market is usually very busy and sometimes, disorderly. One needs to be careful with the traffic if one is crossing the roads. 3) Finding where to park your car could be a nightmare.
