Ibom Plaza is a picturesque park that is located at the heart of Uyo capital metropolis. A tourist attraction sport, a hub for SMEs which saves as major event center. Visitors who come into the state can hang out here and catch a breathe of fresh air. There are relaxation spots all around the plaza. Restaurants, bar, drinking spot, etc, are here in the plaza. Phone shops, boutiques, photo shops, etc, are all around the plaza. Ibom plaza is always booming with pedestrian, sellers, buyers, from dawn to 1 am. Its a nice place to be, thanks to our former governor, Arch. Obong Victor Attah who built this place during his tenure.

Events are sometimes held at the Ibom Plaza like football matches of the Nigerian national team or the state sponsored football team Akwa United and many a times religious or political events. With the cultural Ibom statues surrounding the Ibom Plaza, it is a lovely sight to behold

The Ïbøm plaza is the geographical centre of Uyo municipality & it is the central transport hub of the Åkwá Ïbøm state capital as all major roads meet here at this junction.It is actually named after the abstract statue of a masquerade called Ïbøm in local parlance ;the tallest of masquerades. The statue is at the roundabout. Oron road plus Nwaniba road Ikot Ekpene road Aka road Abak (Olu Obasanjo) way Barracks(Wellington Bassey) way all pour into the Ïbøm plaza. There is a red-brick hemispherical amphitheater (Roman-style) with a mega screen outdoor television for public viewing. A dozen bars that sell food, drinks & grilled beef plus clean public toilets(charges vary) & shopping area for clothes & fashion accessories in addition to mobile phones. Traffic is high, pedestrians mill & photographers throng this thoroughfare. A police station is situated at the entrance to help curb crime.

From students to civil servants to security operatives to business owners, the place is never uninteresting. The raw beauty of the plaza has been tainted by criminal elements operating there lately. Caution is advised when navigating the area, especially from sunset.
