The National War Museum is a historical centre owned by the Nigerian government for the sake of affording the members of the public to have a good view of Relics from the Nigerian Civil war ( 1967-1970). The museum displays weapons and other military paraphernalia from antiquities to recent times. Most importantly you will find the ingenuity of the Igbo people in terms of crafting weapons locally produced out of the necessity to defend themselves from the Nigerian military, after the declaration of the republic of Biafra by the great and legendary Col. Ojukwu. You will also find in this museum military bunkers that were skillfully used by the Biafrans during the 30 months war. Relics such as locally made armoured tanks, artillery guns, military airplanes and naval ships that were both used by the Nigerians and the Biafrans are adequately preserved.

The National war museum located in umuahia is a great center for historical knowledge. Especially for students. It helps enlighten on a topic that is almost never thought in schools which is the Nigerian Civil war. The museum contains various artifacts of war and shows the developmental stages of various African war equipments. It mostly centers on the ingenuity of the Biafran secessionists by showing the various incredible machines of war they created on their own under very stringent conditions.. Its great for historians but a bit dull. I think it needs more funding

This place houses the tools, equipments, machineries and the memories of the Biafran war or rather the Nigeria civil war of 1967 to 1970. It is a museum where those machines used for the war are kept and secured. It is now like a recreational area where individuals go for outing, site seeing etc. Sometimes individuals use this place for functions like wedding receptions, event centres and also for love gatherings. It is a nice place, very cool and calm with a much parking space and so much facilities.

They have an amazing indigenous war collection. No tour guide was assigned to me though and the curator (I suppose) kept rushing me along cos it was a generator that powered the place and she wanted to save fuel I think.

A national museum with lots of historical information on the civil war. No guided tours which would have made the tour more educational and provide an avenue to ask questions. Adequate parking space. The entrance to the gate needs repairs. Also some of the military hardware on display is in dire need of cleaning and maintenance.
